Halogen, xenon and beam type

A headlamp can use different bulbs for low beam and high beam, and halogen and xenon lamps never share a bulb. 26296-8991A, for example, is listed for the LEAF and the Kicks Play, with notes that call out halogen lamps and the high beam. Older Maxima listings separate xenon and halogen lamps by year, which is why the VIN or the old bulb is the safest guide. The bulb type is usually printed on its base.

26295-8990B is listed for the Versa hatchback and the 2011 to 2014 Juke. 26296-9B904 covers the NV full size van, the NV200 and the Sentra. For fog lamps, 26296-9B95A is listed for the 2016 to 2018 Maxima and B6296-4A001 for the Versa.

Signal, tail and marker bulbs

Turn signal and combination lamps

Signal bulbs follow the lamp housing more than the model. 26272-89917 is listed for the front turn signal on the Quest and for the front combination lamp on the Rogue and Rogue Select, among others. A bulb that blinks fast usually means one on that side has burned out, so check both front and rear.

Replacing a bulb

Replace headlight bulbs in pairs: the second one is usually close to failing, and a matched pair gives an even beam. Do not touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare fingers.
