You may also hear unusual noises coming out of the muffler and/or exhaust pipe, and smell what seems like rotten eggs. If you suspect your exhaust is the problem, do an inspection and review results; swap out whatever those results recommend. Otherwise, replace the resonator and/or muffler every 2 to 4 years. Also, change the catalytic converter every 100,000 miles.
